Basic usage

Creating and applying formulas in MathGrid is straightforward. Follow these steps to perform calculations directly within your InDesign tables.

Step-by-step workflow

  1. Select a target cell:
Click in the table cell where you want the formula result to appear.
  2. Set the target cell:
Click Add to target in the MathGrid panel to designate the selected cell as the formula destination.
  3. Write your formula:
Enter your calculation in the formula input field. You can use cell references, numbers, operators, and functions.
  4. Add cell references:
To insert a cell reference into your formula, select a cell in your table and click Add to formula.
  5. Apply the formula:
Click Calculate to evaluate the formula and update the target cell with the result.

Tips

  • You can edit or overwrite formulas at any time by repeating these steps.
  • Formulas will automatically update if referenced cell values change (depending on your update settings).
  • Use formula functions to build more complex calculations as needed.
